I did look at ways in which the DAGScheduler currently interacts w/ the TaskSchedulerImpl, and though it does get a lock on it sometimes, its when stages are created etc., -- nothing so common as every task finishing. I think it would be really bad to require getting that lock per-task. I still don't have better solutions than what @Ngone51 is proposing above, though.
