The default doesn't matter so much as whether it should be blocking at all. I didn't touch it as it's more internal to Spark and wasn't sure whether there are reasons the code really expects blocking behavior here. @maropu do you know more? If we can't find a good reason, I might suggest a follow-up to remove all of these blocking params and let them default to non-blocking.
