cloud-fan commented on issue #24110: [SPARK-25341][Core] Support rolling back a shuffle map stage and re-generate the shuffle files URL: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/24110#issuecomment-478162920 @ankurcha the general idea is to let the driver(`DAGScheduler`) decides the shuffle "generation number" when submitting map tasks, then there is no conflict because different attempts of the shuffle map stage will write shuffle files with different file names. I haven't looked into this PR though.
