Mistake… URL: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/20677#issuecomment-517929930 The example isn't impossible, it just shows, twice, that an event arrives with a timestamp in the future. This is possible if the event producer and consumer seriously disagree about time, like by 2 minutes. The more common case is that the producer/consumer agree on time, it's just that events arrive late sometimes. I therefore doubt it the intended setup is that, also, the producer/consumer are seriously out of sync; it's just an unusual complication that may confuse understanding of the picture. I'd prefer to update the example, but we don't have the source image. @tdas did you ever find it?
