   Most of this occurred in reading the table which created by an old Spark 
version.
   After recreating the table, the issue is gone.
   
   With more deep dive, I found the root cause is the non-partitioned table has 
an incorrect property {{spark.sql.sources.schema.numParts 1}}, which may be 
added by user when create table within TBLPROPERTIES.
   
   ### Why are the changes needed?
   Above error message is very confused. We need more details about assert 
failure information.

   No
   
   
   ### How was this patch tested?
   Manually test.
