@andrewor14 Yeah basically this keeps the quotes all the way through. It's
not a problem of escaping, but the opposite -- the quotes are gone from the
get-go. Yes, that's an issue and probably more of a risk than I figured.
Another way to go is try to re-quote strings with spaces when they're
re-joined. I suppose that `-Dfoo="bar baz"` becomes `"-Dfoo=bar baz"`, but
AFAIK this will parse the same way in bash. What about that kind of solution?
