    Okay, I didn't realize that Hive supported this, but honestly, doesn't that 
seem like a bug?  The whole point of backticks is to allow identifiers that 
have weird characters, such as `.`, in them.  Are you doing this because you 
actually need this "feature" or just to make more hive tests pass?  I would 
consider adding this behind a compatibility flag if it is required for a 
production workload.
