All -
I've got an AMD 64 X2 system with a KN8 SLI motherboard. Since I was
not really interested in shelling out the bucks for a PCI Express video
card at the time I got the mobo, I am using a PCI ATI Radeon 7000/VE
video card.
Unfortunately, I can't get compiz to work. Every time I try to run
desktop-effects, I get the following:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# desktop-effects
gnome-window-decorator: Screen 0 on display ":0.0" already has a
decoration manager; try using the --replace option to replace the
current decoration manager.
compiz: No GLXFBConfig for default depth, this isn't going to work.
compiz: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz: No managable screens found on display :0.0
I've seen some FC6 threads about enabling DRI and such. I've added:
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
Option "DisableGLXRootClipping" "True"
to the "Device" section of xorg.conf, and I've added:
Section "DRI"
Group 0
Mode 0666
EndSection
to xorg.conf. Nothing has worked.
Does anyone know if I can get compiz to work with this video card at
all? It seems to be a supported configuration according to what I've
seen and read, and there is a video on YouTube showing Ubuntu running
compiz on this video card (although I am not sure if it is PCI or AGP or
if that matters).
Thanks,
Thomas
