Many of the videos on the Red Hat website seems to be available in multiple formats. It does seem like they have not made sure to provide all videos in Ogg format, which is a pity, but at least some are available. The Ogg files are actually Ogg Theora video streams and Ogg Vorbis audio streams within an Ogg format container file. All the Ogg branded standards are free of any known patent claims against their implementations and there are encoders and decoders available as free software. Yeah, Ogg rocks! :) Applications that can play Ogg videos are available in any decent free software desktop operating system distro, like for example Ubuntu and RHEL5. Examples are: Totem (the default GNOME media player), HelixPlayer, RealPlayer for Linux and Solaris, RealPlayer for Windows (though that probably still requires an extra plugin unless Real has gotten their act together and actually included it) and Cortado (a Java applet). /abo _______________________________________________ rhelv5-beta-list mailing list rhelv5-beta-list@redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv5-beta-list
