I also contacted FSF about it on your behalf since you didn't seem to
want to bother dealing it at the source. Hopefully it will get
resolved to your satisfaction soon.
I received a reply to my inquiry about this from the FSF this morning.
The FSF tells me that these files are in the public domain and the
copyright notices will be removed from the next release.
Lesson to be learned - talk to the FSF.
