In this particular case, we are looking for a SCSI RAID controller to
replace an existing controller and intend to continue to use the
existing SCSI drives. We've had driver issues in RHE 5 with the
Adaptec 2010S and were hoping to find a replacement card that would
just work with the kernels/drivers provided with the release.
Mind sharing what was your trouble with it? My rhel5 installation server
is built on a 2010S.
I mailed the list looking for just such a person a while ago
eventually I filed a report in bugzilla and have been working around
the problem since. The server was running RHE 3 without problems
prior to transitioning to 5, below is an excerpt of either my bugzilla
report or an email to the list that described my original issues.

I'm having trouble running Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 server on a
system with an
Adaptec ASR-2010S-48MB raid controller.
I install with linux noprobe and add the i2o_block driver in order to
recognize the arrays and complete the installation. The installation
process completes normally.
After installation, on initial boot the system hangs. I can avoid the
hangs by disabling the readahead and readahead_later services. If I
run the readahead processes in combination with strace by hand I
witness a report of a spurious interrupt from the i2o driver. After
the error, running processes function but any attempt at drive IO
hangs the process until the system is unusable.
Possibly related during the boot process two error messages:
PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource .... for ....
Where the devices are the:
PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82870P2 P64H2 Hub PCI Bridge (rev 04)
RAID bus controller: Adaptec (formerly DPT) SmartRAID V Controller
(rev 01)

Did you experience similar issues during the install? Which driver
are you using with the card?
Thanks,
Brent.
