I'm familiar with the upgrade policy, so I know this is a very long
shot, but still:
It looks like Gallery 2 will require PHP 5.2 for new versions some time
in 2008. RHEL5 comes with PHP 5.1

This will make it pretty nasty to run G2 on RHEL5, since PHP is
interlinked with a lot of stuff on the Web side of things.
