Doing my first graphical installation of RHEL 5, and it seems that I can't
get Disk Druid to stop reassigning the various partitions I create. I'm
trying to put them in a certain order to match layouts that we have on other
(non-RH) systems.
I don't see it touched upon in the docs, but is there a way that DD will just
leave each partition where it is as I enter them? It isn't a show stopper,
but I wish it were clearer how to make RHEL stop "helping" me when I don't
want help with partitioning :)
I avoid using Disk Druid to lay out the disk. Before clicking "Next" and
going to the DD screen, I press <CTRL><ALT><F2> to get to the shell
prompt. I then run fdisk and manually partition the disk. Once that's
done I press <CTRL><ALT><F6> to go back to the GUI install program and
proceed, doing a custom disk layout. DD seems to honor the existing disk
layout. I assign each mount point to the desired existing partition.
It seems to have been like that forever (RH9 at least).
