Has anyone tried installing RHEL5 Desktop on a T61 with NVidia graphics?

My experience so far:

- The nv driver doesn't work. It fails to recognize the Quadro NV140M
card. (The latest Fedora driver recognizes the device but brings up a
black screen.)

- The Vesa driver doesn't work. It brings up a black screen. (The
Fedora Vesa driver works OK, except that the backlight never goes off.)

- That pretty much kills the possibility of doing a graphical install.
The situation is unchanged after applying all updates.

- The NVidia proprietary drivers (as built by ATRPMs) works OK, but the
brightness controls only work if you switch to a VC and the machine
freezes on restore from suspend to RAM.

- Sound doesn't work. (I know there's a bug report for this, but it
doesn't seem that the fix has been pushed out.

Thanks for any hints.
