Not supported - any metadata access past 16TB will wrap the 32 bit page
cache
index for the metadata address space and you'll corrupt the filesystem.

That sounds pretty serious; if I was running 64-bit, I wouldn't have the
option of using Knoppix or one of my 32-bit systems for recovery.
ext3 is fully compatible, it does not matter whether one chooses 32-bit
or 64-bit Linux, and so my question above, "What's it matter?"
