can force yppasswd to always create md5 passwords by editing
yp-tools-2.7-md5.patch in the yp-tools SRPM, and change the line
int has_md5_passwd = 0;
to
int has_md5_passwd = 1;
This is handy when you want to get users to upgrade themselves.
The standard behaviour is makes a certain kind of sense. I'd prefer a
runtime choice personally.
