I don't have an Itanium system to hand, however the provides section of glibc on i386 specifically says that it provides the things you require (as in it's advertising itself as backwards-compatible). Do you get similar results when running "yum provides <something>" on Itanium? [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ sudo yum provides "libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2)" <snip> glibc.i386 2.5-12 rhel-i386-server Matched from: libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2) - It's interesting that I don't have anything that provides libc.so.6.1(GLIBC_2.2) and libc.so.6 is the closest I could get. It's likely that is down to differences between ia64 and i386 I guess. > libdl.so.2(GLIBC_2.0)(64bit) is needed by > HPOvXpl-6.00.060-1.ia64 > libdl.so.2(GLIBC_2.1)(64bit) is needed by > HPOvXpl-6.00.060-1.ia64 glibc.i386 2.5-12 rhel-i386-server Matched from: libdl.so.2(GLIBC_2.1) > libgcc_s.so.1(GLIBC_2.0)(64bit) is needed by > HPOvXpl-6.00.060-1.ia64 libgcc.i386 4.1.1-52.el5 rhel-i386-server Matched from: libgcc_s.so.1(GLIBC_2.0) > libm.so.6.1()(64bit) is needed by HPOvXpl-6.00.060-1.ia64 > libm.so.6.1(GLIBC_2.2)(64bit) is needed by > HPOvXpl-6.00.060-1.ia64 libc.i686 2.5-18.el5_1.1 rhel-i386-server Matched from: libm.so.6(GLIBC_2.2) - same comment as libc.so.6, I don't have a libm.so.6.1 capability. > libpthread.so.0(GLIBC_2.2)(64bit) is needed by > HPOvXpl-6.00.060-1.ia64 glibc.i386 2.5-12 rhel-i386-server Matched from: libpthread.so.0(GLIBC_2.2) > Do you guys recommend I install glibc 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2? I don't recommend you build and install your own glibc, because it wouldn't fall in the bounds of "supported" either by HP or Red Hat. Try running "yum localinstall HPOvXpl-6.00.060-1.ia64.rpm" > The system has glibc 2.5. I'm guessing either: > 1.The RPM is packaged poorly so it doesn't check for "glibc.version >= > 2.2" I suggest giving HP Support a tug. They built the RPM and if it's anything like the pile of rubbish that goes into their Proliant Support Pack RPMS, they've probably done something exceedingly stupid. -- Sam _______________________________________________ rhelv5-list mailing list [email protected] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhelv5-list
