Ok, is there anyone here running Virtual machines using the "standard
method" included in RHEL5?
Yeah, so I don't have much to contribute, but we recently got into
deploying Xen virtual machines on RHEL5 hosts. I found Red Hat's
documentation to be pretty abysmal, and I thought the process was
overwhelmingly complicated and fraught pitfalls and inconsistencies.
Then I discovered cobbler. It took a few weeks of poking and prodding
with it to get it to work as I want it to, but once I did,
consistently deploying Xen VMs became easy, repeatable, and at a point
that I consider "production-ready."
After cobbler, I like Xen VMs as much as I like my dog. And I love my
dog very much.
