I had this problem as well (and reported it to the list over the
weekend).
I manually removed yum (via rpm --erase), then manually downloaded it
from RHN and manually installed (via rpm again).
This got yum itself working again, but I found a number of other
inconsistencies I'm still sorting out, including kernel panics
referencing
the inability to load selinux config.
Tim, this was a great hint. It helped me get a working yum again.
But i started a yum update again, it recognizes that some packages
were already updated, and wants to update the other packages now. But
while installing: kernel-xen , it seems to hang, tooks over 30 min
now. Strange things.
It's the first RH system I'm working on and this update behaviour is
not really funny.
