This is something I would also like to see. One of the great things
about Redhat (and Linux in general) is that the vendors have really
delivered on robust package delivery solutions. Starting with a small
base install, which is something easily done with Debian, it's only a
matter of minutes before I can have the things I need installed and
ready to go. Compare that to Solaris where starting with a small, core
install is nothing but a packaging/dependency nightmare if you find
out later that you require a package not in that core.
It seems to me that having a "server" install that can be enhanced
after the fact would be a readily welcomed thing in most circles. It
at least seems popular on this list :-) Maybe it is time to address
the lsb and re-evaluate just what is "standard" and what isn't?
