A lot of this sounds like what Ubuntu has done with their JeOS release.
Minimal install, no extra open ports. 100MB ISO. Well suited for a
single server VM box. If this could be combined with Red Hat's strengths
in iptables and SELinux, I think it would be a winner, especially as a
starting point for enterprise VMs.
