We have had the very disruptive repo corruption bug hit us here. Red Hat have told us to disable yum-updatesd and use yum-3.0.1-5 versus 3.2.8-9. But, it doesn't look like it's the same issue you're having. We are using RHN and have not rolled out any updates since last month because of this problem -- so we're waiting on the hotfix.
