Because the copy you are checksumming is not correct? I mean why
exactly would you assume anything different?

686feb30461e6d4bfc1f318f23ff5b56
/install/isos/ws-5/x86_64-u3/rhel-client-5.3-x86_64-dvd.iso

A correct copy of that DVD is safe to use. I don't think you have a
correct copy.
