Hi Corey,

A few questions come to mind but first let me clarify: your're running nedit on the local workstation X server (i.e: no remote display) but your users' $HOME are on NFS directories, right? - Are your nedit versions the same on 4.8 and 5.4 (i.e: 5.5) or are you using the version that came with RHEL (I believe it's different)? - If not, then did you refresh the nedit properties and save them after the upgrade from 4.8 to 5.4? - Did you check for X settings changes (xrdb -q < /dev/null and check the output ) on both 4.8 and 5.4? - What's the NFS server like (i.e: what box) and did you try forcing the protocol version (i.e: version 3 vs version 4?). I,e: are the mounts configured the same btw 4.8 and 5.4 clients..

my 2c,

Vincent

Upgrading some rhel 4.8 workstations to 5.4 recently resulted in some odd
behaviour from applications
like nedit and Qt designer. Nedit was exhibiting problems with text selection
and movement and qt-designer
had problems displaying widgets properly. The users home directories are on nfs
which is a likely culprit but
these apps both work fine under 4.8 using the same nfs settings and display
configs. Reducing the rsize
and wsize settings down to 8k seemed to help a bit but the problem persists.

Is this a known issue? If so, what's the solution?
