Just to clarify ...

The latest EL5.6 kernel for Extended Update Support (EUS) is -238.27.1 (20 Sep)
...

If you don't have EUS, then the last -238 (EL5.6) series kernel was -238.19.1
(15 Jul), with the newer -274 (EL5.7) series kernel being adopted the following
week (21 Jul), and more recently updated to -274.3.1 (06 Sep) ...

Last time I checked, one must have an EUS entitlement to get the EUS updates.
Otherwise the last kernel for a previous update (e.g., EL5.6, -238) will only
be the final one before the next full update (e.g., EL5.7, -274), which then
brings in its own kernel series.

Hey!  Happy Friday!  Is there any reason you need RHEL 5.6?  I wanted
to mention that RHEL 5.7 is out.  If you and your team can not go to
Service Pack 7 for RHEL5, then are you wondering what the latest
kernel version we released for RHEL5.6?  If that is your question, I
went into RHN and found:

kernel-2.6.18-238.27.1.el5.x86_64.rpm

https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/software/packages/details/Overview.do?pid=644793

I hope this is what you were looking for.
