In the first post that was 8790.99 / 4863.53 = 80%

So the 90% seems a bit worse than it is but "80% faster" is still quite a
lot.

Now what I'd be interested to see is how they compare on real hardware, no
VMware or whatever virtual seomthing below the OS.

Also I don't think touching the default filesystem and it's config is a
good thing here. One can always tune things as needed but the defaults
should be sane.
