Omigod! Palestinians live in the Territories. Palestinians were the residents when this whole partition thingy came up. Palestinians would be regarded as the proprietors in any sane jurisdiction. Particularly when in the process of defeating the Third Reich, the principle was laid down that : http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/wwii/atlantic.htm Atlantic Charter AUGUST 14, 1941 Second, they desire to see no territorial changes that do not accord with the freely expressed wishes of the peoples concerned; Third, they respect the right of all peoples to choose the form of government under which they will live; and they wish to see sovereign rights and self government restored to those who have been forcibly deprived of them; The Palestinians were expelled in 1948 - their opinions weren't asked; their opinions were never asked about the many settlements that have sprung up like gorse in the Palestinians' back yard. Consequently, the current situation is highly irregular, if not illegal, not to forget, highly anti-democratic (You want proof - just change the words "Israel", "Arab" and "Palestinian" in any average Israeli rant about the "Demographic Problem" to "New York", "Jew" and "Jewish". Then see how happy it makes your average New York Jew.). And don't talk to me about the absence of statehood, government in Palestine - what the H*** was the Palestinian Mandatory Government during the 1920s-40s? That state should've been handed over to a duly elected government of Jews and Arabs, instead of it being confiscated by the Yishuv. Instead, all we get is a whole lot of gobbledy-gook about Arabs being innately terrorist, Palestinians having no right to live on the land that Jews were absent in force from for about two millennia, and legal shenanigans (concerning torture and land confiscation, etc) that make Jews look as bad as the Inquisition and the 1492 Expulsion, etc. Good grief! Or are you claiming that the religious document known as haTenakh to Jews and the Old Testament to Christians, should currently be the sole binding force on land ownership in the Middle East? Separation of Church and State it ain't!
