Given the Madrid bombing and the effect it had on the Spanish
elections, I wonder what effect the following scenario would have on
the American elections:
In mid October, terrorists in Iraq capture a number of civilians
including Americans and citizens of our allies.
They then threaten to behead each of them over a period of days in
mid-November and video tape each death in detail if the American
voters elect a particular presidential candidate (we won't say which
one). They further say that if the opposite candidate is elected, they
will free the entire group.
What effect do you think this situation could have on the American
electorate, if any?
