Thanks Hank,

The irony is that absent greed even the greedy could have more. All we need is to
methodically give up our addiction to weaponry. Sort of like a nicotine patch, we can
just dedicate a smaller portion of our budget to weapons each year. As it is, we spend
nearly as much as the entire rest of the world combined. We have such a security
margin that it really won't be much of a risk. If we are truly the "home of the brave"
we will have the courage to do this. If we don't we will be increasingly giving up our
freedom to the military-industrial complex. Long live the home of the brave and the
land of the free! Let freedom ring!

In 1953, President Dwight D. Eisenhower stated, "Every gun that is made, every
warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in a real sense a theft from those who
hunger and are not fed --those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is
not spending money alone--it is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its
scientists, the hopes of its children."

Here is a website that shows what we could do with the money. If we chose to do this
the world would be outraged at anyone that would attack us. Our security would almost
certainly be enhanced.
