I finally got some breathing room to work on this a bit more. I ended up going another way. With the *single* class to register things wrapped behind an interface. This allowed the container implementation to be much simpler and removes any conditional concerns. I have implemented a StructureMap container, which I'm very doubtful works at this point, but I'll begin to work through some tests to make sure it's all wired up correctly. I did a rebase this time against the current master so if you pulled it down before, you may need to remove your local branch and pull again if you want to take a look.
