Solyndra for dummies Assume a store manager took the days receipts and loaned it to a friend to buy a car. The friend buys the car and drives it into a ditch, wrecking the car. The next day the friend asks the store manager for $1,000 to hire a lawyer. Later that day the store owner finds out there was no deposit the day before. Next the manager calls the store owner and tells him what he did. The store owner asks him to make good on the missing money or he’ll fire him. The manager explains, when my friend was going to jail I told him if there was anything left, he could keep it. The store owner cannot recover the money because the manager told friend to keep it. The owner fires the store manager. Is that not what happened in the Solyndra scandal? The DOE gave Solyndra $450 bil and told them if the corp fails, the govt is first in line to collect. Solyndra went from bad to worse and borrowed another $75 mil from the tax payers, but the govt decided to give up their right to be paid first.
