Hi Anne,
I've had good luck with the mastitis medicine for milk cows. What I have is
called Cefa-Lak, and I've used it on a horse with an 8" deep puncture in the
chest. You can insert the tip into the wound and flush it with this stuff.
Seems to heal it from the inside out.
Of course, ask your vet.
