You probably can't afford that, unless you do completion certificates, or are not trying to break even. Volunteers get the choice of a Tshirt/completion award or a ticket to the catered BBQ, sack lunches and snacks, and undying gratitude. Our ride has to have 80-90 volunteers due to trail marking vandalism, so you can see that this is a significant dollar impact. We try to get the trail markers/monitors their shirts ahead of time, so that riders can tell who the helpers are.
