One more thing...make sure this isn't a psychological avoidance
technique.  I've seen people who think they want to do something, but
they're scared so they find ways to put it off.  Not saying you are...but
just a what if... What if you're a little scared to try an endurance ride
but think you want to.  You buy a horse that lets you put the decision to
compete off for 4 years.  Then you spend four years building up more
anxiety.  If your TWH is the least bit trail wise, take him to a 25
miler.  If you're within driving distance of Lebanon, TN why not just pop
on down to Longstreet's Charge just south of Chattanooga and put one ride
under your belt.  May change your approach to everything.  This advice
may be way off track to you, but I'll bet it hits home with somebody out
there.

P. S. never buy a clean or bodyclipped horse.  Get a good look at him all
muddy and furry to make sure you're not falling in love with the wrapping
paper.
