Emirates
Howard,
I couldn't have said it any
better. Sadly but truly, mroe and more, when greed and good butt heads, we all
know what wins out a terrible majority of the time. Anyone who doesn't think
so should frequent the Arabian shows to see the numbed tails on teh western
horses, the terrorized and gingered halter horses with sored feet and cocaine
in the eyes to make them look glossy; the cips jobs and grease jobs that make
them look like they are wearing greasey wet suits; the English "Pleasure"
(yeah, pleasure for just WHOM??) horses with broejn and set tails and feet
soels so sore they can't HELP but snatch them up....the list goes on - all to
win a ribbon - and the publicity that can win many breedings to their very
average but "well presented"stallion; of the halter win for the mare in foal
to a National Top Ten halter STALLION with more foals on the ground than any
TEN horses in the wild would have in a lifetime - together............ and all
this for money.
We have our fair share of ribbons and wins from the
old days when a halter horse had better be able to DO something - WITHOUT
torture or deceitful methods. SO much more than ANY of those, I treasure my
tee shirts - "Shut up and ride!"; that beautiful Tehachapi logo; Tammy's
darling Hog..........not a dime for any of it - but something that will last
much longer. I agree with Howard = and I don't want to be chased out of our
OWN AERC by greedy upper crusty whatnot folk - tell 'em HOward - go make your
OWN club! San (who rides for the glory of the sport, the companionship -
and the view)
