Hey, did else notice that the jockey Bob Costas was interviewing, before the race, was taller than Bob? Man, being a little on the short side myself (sorry Laura, I think you had a few too many beers the night you talked with me), I laughed that entire interview, Bob being so full of himself and all. And, I knew Bob had his lifts on, inside his shoes (I wonder who is Bob's farrier?). Too darn funny, almost as good as some of the celebrity interviews (Alice Cooper was my favorite; old memories die hard), and those Kentucky women with a glass of something in their hand; and I don't think it was prune juice, although most of them looked to be of that age where they might need a shot or two. I think my moonshiner, currently hiding out in those western North Carolina mountains, was originally from Kentucky. And, that song, my Ole Kentucky Home, does anyone really know the words to that song? I saw some of the locals (I guess they were locals) actually singing that song, as if they knew it by heart. Keep in mind this was the same crowd with that glass of non-prune juice in their hand. Man, I have to get there someday. Anyone have tickets for next year? It looks like my kind of crowd. Drunkin, horse loving, partying folks, with a couple of Sheiks thrown in to pick up the bar tab. The scene wasn't that much different from Daytona Beach during NASCAR week, minus the Sheiks, especially in the infield. Except these folks all wore hats and kept their shirts on. Speaking of Sheiks, the new owner of War Something seems to be one of the non-chosen people. Where's his wrap-around dress? And head gear, with the lead rope on top? How come some of them dress like Westerners, and some of them don't? I have so many questions. Like, will they rename the event, for next year, the Sultan's Derby, or maybe, The Essence of Dubai Derby? At least none of the stewards at the Derby were de-frocked Priests; I checked. So, we know integrity was maintained. Well, what can I say? My horse didn't come in, so I'm going to have to try and sneak into Susan's talk without paying. Man, I just hope I don't get arrested by doing that, with me on probation and all. I might be the only one who spends time in the clink cause I wanted to listen, so badly, to Susan G. speak on metabolics. My quest for knowledge on this particular subject knows no bounds. cya, Howard (we will get thru that vet check; we will get thru that vet check....)
