Well, what can I tell ya...  I've done NATRC, and I've ridden horses that would be well-suited to it, but most of our endurance prospects get REALLY bored with it, unless the terrain is REALLY severe.  Did one in Jackson Hole, WY several years ago where the terrain was REALLY tough and the pace seemed about right--and the NATRC officials chewed out the management royally for running it so "fast."  (It was an open event, and averaged 4 mph...)  I'll stick by my comments.  It's just unfair to ask a horse with a 5.5 mph WALK to average less than 3 mph in the NATRC novice division, much as I like the CTR format for many reasons.
