Maggie, Not all CTRs are created equal. No offense intended to Jeannie Miller, but if I had to put up with UMECRA rules, I'd feel the same way you do. It's why Ohio won't sanction Michigan CTR, it has nothing to do with football rivalry! Really! >vbg<
Take the short drive down to Ohio and try an AHAO (soon to be OAATS) CTR. Come to the CTR ride I'm putting on the second weekend in October north of Columbus! I promise you can sponge whenever you want! You can get off of your horse too, just no forward motion. If it's paced too fast for ya, you can come in up to an hour over time. If it's paced too slow, come in under time. We'll even let ya wear Meeshigan colors if you have to. Deanna ------------------------------ I agree with Truman and would like to add that I think I can take better care of my horse riding LD than comp. I can get off and walk with him. I can sponge him whenever I want...I always get confused with comp about whether or not I can or can't sponge. I can also go slower on an LD...I have up to 6 hours to complete and usually only have the 30 minute check. With a 25 mile comp, you have your hold time plus any surprise checks to get through and you have to do it in 4 hours and 30 minutes (at least that's the time I've always had to work with). I would go with LD. Maggie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
