Dear Rietvelders,
together with IAG’s GeoPT programme (https://www.geoanalyst.org/geopt/), we
are launching the first round of combined geochemical and mineralogical
proficiency testing – MinPT.
The GeoPT programme is well established but currently lacks a mineralogical
component. As we know, mineralogy can be crucial for choosing the
appropriate geochemical method, MinPT aims to close this gap while also
providing an opportunity to compare mineral composition data from different
analytical approaches (e.g. XRD, SEM-based image analysis, aka “automated
mineralogy”) with geochemical data obtained by different methods.
The first round is planned for spring 2027.
