The first sounds like it could be computationally intensive, 
judging by other posts I've read.  Possibly ugly code, too. 

The third sounds attractive if the "transfer" class is a new 
base class for the full class, but since this does not corres-
pond to any class that has any conceptual justification, I can
not justify this approach. 

The second seems to be the most appropriate.
