Hi Steven,
this is great! I'm sure that it will help a lot of users in the
future to more easily understand the authentication feature. It does
seem to be the one that requires the most dedication to fully grasp.
As you said, it often is when you're researching a particular topic
that you end up writing the best documentation during the research.
Thanks!

There's no better way to make sure you understand something than to
try to explain it, so I've started documenting the internals of
RIFE's built-in authentication system. I am not done yet, but if
someone who's familiar with that code can take a look at what I've
written so far and tell me if I've gotten anything wrong, that'd be
great. As I continue to write I don't want to build on an erroneous
foundation. Plus, like I said, this is an exercise in making sure I
understand how it works, and I might not have figured it out
correctly.

The new stuff is after the "Flow of execution" header, but it makes
some use of the message from Geert at the top of the page.
Hopefully it's both correct and informative for people. Feedback
also welcome on whether following a succession of requests is a
good format to explain how the system works; it's maybe not so
useful as a reference guide, but the intent is to explain to
someone who isn't already familiar with the various pieces.
