CDs are read inside to out, and except for operas and a few classical
albums, rarely get close to the outer edge.

Have you tried ripping the same CD on a different computer?
perhaps it is something in the drive?

Flacfrontend.exe for Windows is drag and drop.
will send files thru encoder and tag them
