Ah. I seem to have ID2 tags *and* Ogg comments in my oggs. The ID2 is prepended to the file, so the 'OggS' ogg header marker isn't the first 4 bytes of the file. Stripping ID2 with 'id2convert -s' seems to make PurePerl.pm happier with my oggs.
