I use Max for the Mac which works fine. You can get it to rip in multiple formats so you can create FLAC (for Squeezebox) and MP3 (for iPod) at the same time.
However, although I use Max for FLAC ripping, I prefer to use flac2mp3 to sync FLAC library with MP3 to ensure that any tag changes or FLAC downloads (legal) from the internet are transcoded.
