Since there are no real differences in audio quality between lossless formats I'd recommend using Apple lossless compression for all users who want to use iTunes and iPod. iTunes and iPod don't support any other lossless compression formats. You'll save about half the hard disk space compared to using AIFF or WAV which are non-compressed lossless formats.
