I need some help with short and long term means to handle our music library.
I started down the WMA path of a music server and portable devices. I have a very large database of WMA songs, %70 are encoded at 192K, %25 are in WMA lossless, no DRM. With our first, second then third SB3s life was grand as we used windows for laptop players, Irivers for portable players and SB3s for the home entertainment areas. We have embraced MACs and Ipods now. I need to decide which format(s) to support and how to get there. It seems FLAC is favored for higher quality audio, AAC seems to be second, MP3 third. Itunes and Ipods want to use AAC, seems MP3 is ok. When I bought my Mac Pro the folks at Apple told me Itunes would automatically convert WMAs to AACs no problem. In fact you have to use Itunes on Windows to convert WMAs to AACs. Windows Itunes seems to work on databases of hundreds or a few thousand songs but not large databases. I realize this is not a SB issue per say but I have tried everywhere to find a strategy that works and thought Id try here. My questions: Where do I find a conversion program that will handle large batch conversions of WMAs? To protect myself to be able to use new technologies what is the best bet for the format AAC, WMA, FLAC, MP3? -- jasleinstein ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jasleinstein's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3813 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30055 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
