Yep, found that not long after posting my message (I keep forgetting to
crawl through the wiki).  I've started thinking about how to deal with
the classical part of my collection, and ran across this thread from a
while back:

elegant way to deal with managing such a collection (really the
multilayered problems that come from moving complex content organized
one way -- on CD -- to another -- a music library and its taxonomy). 
The problem's really the same for popular music, but more hidden, since
most people aren't like, say, Nick Hornby and think about this music
from several different angles.

Seems to me one big problem is that tagging systems are very
CD-package-dependent, and aren't as good dealing with the entities (and
interrelationships between the entities) of pieces of music, whether
they're songs, symphonies, etc.  All I know is that I need to think
about this some more :).
