I'm not that familiar with Apple lossless files, but I'm guessing that
they use their own proprietary tags, rather than ID3.  So that sounds
like it's probably correct.

I'm not following what you're trying to do here.  Mp3tag always saves
its own configuration between uses.

If you're talking about the tags in the music files, I'm still not
quite sure what you mean.  Since the tags are saved within the files
themselves, you shouldn't have to save anything else.  What I generally
do with Mp3tag is work on a single album at a time.  Only very very
rarely do I open up the entire music folder in Mp3tag.  If you're not
storing albums one album per folder per album, you're probably going to
have some headaches with SlimServer.  In Windows Explorer you should
have a context-menu selection that says 'M3ptag'.  Just right-click the
album's folder and make that selection and you get only one album's
tracks within Mp3tag.
