Thank you for that, Adam. I have 2 x 320Gb hard disks in my music server, with software that backs up the master to the slave every day, so that the day one of my hard disks goes belly-up I shan't have lost my data. Now that hard drives are so cheap I chose this solution over tape or DVD backup (tape drives going to 320Gb are dear, and I don't trust DVDs for archiving). I was wondering even whether to buy a third large HD and to make a copy to it every six months or so and keep it off-site (in the office, probably) to protect me against theft and fire.
