very interesting to see the calculations for potential power savings. I just started trying to optimize the pc running slimserver for low power use and low noise and have tried a few different alternatives using older desktops and laptops running Windows XP. I was starting to head down the path of buying a new low power system, but this thread has nixed that idea.
Currently I am using a laptop running XP and making use of the 'Wake-On-Lan' feature which enables the PC to go into S3 standby mode when not in use and permits the Squeezebox to wake the PC up when I want to use it.
